Setting up a Quality Management System for all In Ovo sites

Assignment

Ensuring consistent quality across all sites by implementing a HACCP-based quality system to enhance quality, while providing support and guidance throughout the process.

Approach

In this assignment, we have utilized the following tools:

 • A quick scan, by performing a Quality Audit.
 • Lean thinking and 5S.
 • Deming's circle of quality.
 • The HACCP management system.

Which resulted in the following milestones; firstly, with regard to Design Week:

 • Introduction of 5S and HACCP.
 • Quick scan in Ochten and report.
 • A Front-end quality manual.
 • A definition of quality system content.
 • The determination of the opportunities in the Elicit software.

And secondly, with regard to the establishment of a (new) quality system:

 • Implementation by the Quality Lead of in Ovo.
 • Introduced a biweekly meeting, discussing updates and advice.
 • Periodically reviewing the deliverables.

The Quality system roll-out, evaluation, and improvement are carried out by In Ovo's Quality Lead.

One of the project's main challenges was the ongoing implementation of Elicit - an application to increase performance by recording and transferring knowledge. We wanted to integrate the quality system into Elicit as much as possible so that it could work from a single source for assurance and maintenance purposes.

Results

By engaging with Elicit's developers and understanding its capabilities, we managed to integrate the quality system. Hence, the basis of the quality system and quality organization is in place and secured in Elicit.

Also, In Ovo's Quality lead has gained enough knowledge to independently expand, sharpen and roll out the system in the organization.
